Its easy to get used books for 1/4 cover price at Paperback Swap N Shop
!
Used books start at 1/2 cover price, New
books sold at full publishers price. (Check out the 25cent sidewalk
sale).
Bring in your books for credit
anytime the store is open. All books must be in salable
condition, clean, with covers.
We give credit at 1/4 *cover price for
all paperback books (a $7.99 book is $2 credit, a
$2.99 book is 75 cents credit) - We do not do much with hardbacks, a
hard back is added as $4 for $1 credit. If your 20
books add up to $80 in cover price, that is $20 in
credit. We put credit on an account
for you on our computer, it does not expire, no card for you to
loose
Our Used Paperbacks sell for 1/2
cover price - you pay as 1/4 cash + 1/4
credit. So if you pick out
$40 worth of books, that price would be $20=
$10. cash (plus tax) and $10.
credit. Since you started out with
$20 credit and used $10, we would save the
other $10 on your account.
Paperback Swap N' Shop also discounts most
New Books, 25% off from with
credit. Our New Book selection is small, so we
support our customers with discounts, special orders, classroom set
discounts for 10 copies or more of a single title.
Paperback Swap N' Shop very rarely buys books,
if you owned a bookstore that went out of business or had hundreds
of mysteries from the past 5 years or some similar situation, we
might talk. No trading books for books, all books in the have
a cash value. The electric company will not take books to pay the
bill.
*Cover price is publisher price pre-printed on
paperback books, or our best guess of original price if not
pre-printed. The minimum price we count is $3 on a book that is 75
cents cash/credit - incoming or outgoing.
History:
Marie Stimson opened Paperback Swap N Shop in 1971.
Jane
Gray worked for her first part time then as manager and bought the
store in 2005
The store staff (
Jane, Suzy, Maria, and Michael ) have combined experience over
30 years as booksellers. We are all readers, and can share our
favorites, recommend books, and just hang out with our customers who
are the best customers in the world (okay, so my opinion may be
biased). This is a really great place to
shop* but we do have a couple of rules posted by the
door:
-
If you have a question, you have to ask it.
-
If you don't have fun, don't come
back
*The Galveston Daily News chose this store as one of
the "Best Places" in Galveston County, we were the only retail store
so selected. |
